Bluegrass and Baseball

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

I couple of exciting things happened today. Alisse and I just got back from a really nice date. We ventured down to Indy for dinner and a concert. We ate at the Cheese Cake Factory. They have really good Cheese Cake, imagine that :), and really good real food too. After that was the concert. The opening band was ‘The Ditty Bops‘. They were light-hearted and fun. They put on a great show. I especially like the cowboy song they did. It’s part of their tradition for this tour where they compose a cowboy/pirate song the day before/of the concert. Next was the main act, Nickelcreek. They are (along with The Ditty Bops) a contemporary blue grass band. The music was really good. I really like their live performance of ‘Smoothie Song’. It was extended with lots of extra in the middle. I also really liked the Ode to a Butterfly. I know, it sounds really girly, but it was really good. I really enjoyed the concert.

On the way home we listened to the Sox - Astros game. I’m being converted to a Sox fan. Although, I’m still a Tigers fan. The Tigers, if you don’t follow losers, is Detroit’s major league baseball team. The most exciting part was the Grand Slam which put the Sox ahead by too. The Astros got two more runs to tie the game 6-6. Then in the bottom of the 9th the Sox scored to win game 2 of the World Series! Go Whitesoxs!

Overall, it’s been a very exciting weekend. Tomorrow is back to the ol’ grind.

Third Times a Charm

Thursday I went to Best Buy to get Arrested Development Season Two, but they were sold out. That was the second time I was disappointed about not getting the second season of one of the greatest shows ever. Well, yesterday attempt number three was successful. The Target in Plainfield, IL yeilded success. I’m happy now :) You should watch it.

No more

Walmart. I’m think I’m done with Walmart. I was very excited when I heard that season two of Arrested Development came out on DVD today. I went to Walmart to find that they didn’t have it out yet, not til Midnight. Arg. Guess I’ll be going to BEST BUY tomorrow. Walmart you let me down for the last time. Your price-cutting happy face will no longer lurer me into your pit of dissappointment. I need to go to bed.

Running the Race

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

This past Saturday, I ran in my first 5K race. I didn’t place, but I did cross the finish line. Alisse and I ran it togeather and ended up with a time of 33 minutes. My dad also ran, but he was slightly slower at 35 minutes. My goal for next year is to run it under 30 mins. Homecoming was fun, I got to see several people from my class. It was good to catch up with them. My family (mom, dad, sister, cousin and to-be-cousin) all came down. It was good seeing everyone again.

It’s been awhile…

Wednesday, October 5th, 2005

since I’ve written anything substantial here. Here is a recap of the past few weeks:

Trip to Chicago I went home with Alisse to Chicago. We went to her family’s party. It was fun, I got to meet many of her Aunts/Uncles/Cousins. It was good/neat meeting more of her family. They seem like nice people.

Trip to Michigan I went home for Amanda’s Birthday. Happy 20th B-Day (yes, it’s a little (15 days) late). I got to hang out with Darrel on Saturday. We made our usual trek to the Texas Road House. Sunday, we had brunch at the Thomas Edison Inn . It’s always good. I also managed to take 12-15 lbs of beef from my parents freezer before I left. This means less food I have to buy :).

Sick This past weekend, I came down with a bad cold. I was pretty miserable Sunday and ended up staying home from work on Monday. I’m feeling mostly better now, just some lingering congestion and coughing.

Airband Tomorrow I’m going to Airband tomorrow. It should be fun. I actually get to sit back and enjoy the show! Something I haven’t done since my freshman year. Go Gerig! Make it 3 wins in 5 years!

Homecoming This is going to be my first homecoming for college (obvious, I know being a recent grad). The main event for me is going to be the 5K walk/run. Alisse, my dad, and I are all going to run in it. My cold has made it hard to practice (train if you will) for the race this past week. Hopefully, I won’t die. The rest of my family is also coming down. Along with Bryan and Claire. It’ll be good to see everyone again.

Facebook I’m not addicted. Sadly though, I only have one page of friends.
