Bluegrass and Baseball
Sunday, October 23rd, 2005I couple of exciting things happened today. Alisse and I just got back from a really nice date. We ventured down to Indy for dinner and a concert. We ate at the Cheese Cake Factory. They have really good Cheese Cake, imagine that :), and really good real food too. After that was the concert. The opening band was ‘The Ditty Bops‘. They were light-hearted and fun. They put on a great show. I especially like the cowboy song they did. It’s part of their tradition for this tour where they compose a cowboy/pirate song the day before/of the concert. Next was the main act, Nickelcreek. They are (along with The Ditty Bops) a contemporary blue grass band. The music was really good. I really like their live performance of ‘Smoothie Song’. It was extended with lots of extra in the middle. I also really liked the Ode to a Butterfly. I know, it sounds really girly, but it was really good. I really enjoyed the concert.
On the way home we listened to the Sox - Astros game. I’m being converted to a Sox fan. Although, I’m still a Tigers fan. The Tigers, if you don’t follow losers, is Detroit’s major league baseball team. The most exciting part was the Grand Slam which put the Sox ahead by too. The Astros got two more runs to tie the game 6-6. Then in the bottom of the 9th the Sox scored to win game 2 of the World Series! Go Whitesoxs!
Overall, it’s been a very exciting weekend. Tomorrow is back to the ol’ grind.
