No More Wisdom (Teeth)

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Last Friday I had my remaining wisdom teeth taken out. They were impacted, so I had to had to do the whole oral surgery thing. My top to wisdom teeth were taken out via simple extraction (the easy way). Alisse (who is a very good girlfriend :) ) came down from Chicago to take me to dentist and take care of me for the weekend as I recovered.

I’m feeling mostly better now. I can eat most normal foods. The hard thing is it hurts to open my mouth too wide. I haven’t try hard, crunchy or chewy things yet. They should probably wait a few more days.

Tomorrow, I head home for the extended weekend. Sunday, is the annual Wissman Family Reunion. It will be nice to see everyone but I’ll miss Alisse’s birthday (again).

I’ll be back in Muncie on the 4th of July by the afternoon. Anyone want to go see fireworks in the Muncie area?

Here is a photo of me after my surgery on Friday. I was somewhat under the affects of all the drugs.

This past weekend was Danny’s Wedding. It was in the Adrian, MI area, so I decided to drive up and back in the same day. Despite the long drive, I’m glad I went. The wedding was outside at the bride’s house. It was nice day out except that it was 90 degs out! Good thing the wedding took about 30 mins. Here are a photos from the wedding:

Both Sunday and Friday were pretty uneventful.

Anyway, do you ever wonder what Arab nations do with all their oil money? How about building 3 several mile wide islands in the shape of palm trees and one set of 300 islands that look like a map of the world from above. All chuck full of luxary houses, apartments, hotels and shopping. Sound too strange to be true? Check it out here. The prince of Dubai, United Arab Emerites, is buidling these islands. Once they are done, it would be a neat place to visit.

Weddings, Islands and Apples

Several exciting things happened in the past week and half.

First, I finally got a new laptop to replace my 8 year old Pentium II 300 Mhz IBM laptop. I got the new Apple Macbook (2.0 Ghz). To say the least, it’s faster then my old laptop. I really like it a lot. Mac OSX is a really nice operating system. I’m already wanting to do things like press F12 in windows.

Last Friday, Alisse and I headed up to Michigan for my cousin’s wedding. I was an usher, so we went to the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner. The dinner was at an art gallery. Having the dinner at the gallery was a really good idea. It was a neat experience.

Saturday was the wedding. It was a nice wedding. Everything went really well. Bryan and Claire had a traditional ceremony. The other big wedding that day was Joanna’s. I wish I could have gone to both weddings.

Sunday, after the wedding my family and Alisse went up to Mackinaw and Mackinaw Island. Some highlights of the trip: bike riding around the Island, taking photos of the bridge at night, staying at a quaint bed and breakfast, hearing that some politicians (including Michigan’s governor and Detroit’s mayor) spent $1000 on food and $5000 on booze at the restaurant we ate at for lunch one day on the Island, horse back riding around the Island and climbing up to Arch Rock.

I’m back now, in the midst of one of my two free weekends during the summer. Next weekend: summer wedding number two.

I leave you with a couple photos from the trip:
