Goodbye 6%

Monday, March 31st, 2008

No foolin’, tomorrow Indiana’s sales tax goes up to 7%. It’s still better then Illinois’ 7.75%. I guess that’s the price for lower property taxes. Oh, yeah, I don’t own anything where I need to pay property tax…

I wonder if we could go to a system where there was only sales tax. No income tax, no property tax, etc. Granted it would probably be pretty high. This would definitely reward people for saving money. humm…

Anyway…

Shuffling across the Finish Line

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

The Shamrock Shuffle was today! I did pretty well – I came in 12,795th place! Yeah, there were 30,000+ people in the race. I finished in just over 49 minutes. Which is about what how I thought I would do. It was really fun being apart of the the event. It was easy to keep pace because there were so many other runners. There were also a lot of cheering spectators. The view was also pretty nice. The course started in Grant Park (downtown Chicago) and went up and through the City. We even ran right past the Sear’s Tower. The downsides: not finding Alisse after the race and the fact that it was about 37 deg outs. Other then that I had a good time.

Business Trip

Monday, March 10th, 2008

I’m in Ohio for a couple days on a business trip. We’re in the largest Amish community in Ohio (or maybe in the U.S.). I’m looking forward to some good Amish cooking. It should be a good trip!
