Too safe in the buble
During the power outage early Friday morning there was much mayhem on campus. A fire was set outside Olson. People broke into Olson, English, Zondervan, Aryes and the DC. The nativity set was also stolen and dispersed around campus. Last evening Dr. G. called a meeting of the student body. Him and Skip went over what all happened. They were very disappointed in the behavior of people on campus.
At one point, Dr. G. said that the surrounding police stations wanted to come help calm things down and ‘Get those hypocrite Taylor students’. Campus safety said no, that they could handle it. In many ways, I think campus safety should have let the police come and arrest students. Our ‘Taylor Bubble’ is now protecting people from real punishment from real crimes. (Although, I think many of the crimes started as innocent pranks).
There are many advantages and disadvantages of the bubble, I’m not going to debate that now. I just think people need to think more about their actions, which is become much harder in our ‘Just do it’ culture.
